Terminals

Terminal 2 handles all international flights (opened 2019, modern facilities). Terminal 1 serves domestic routes. The terminals are connected — allow 30 minutes for transfers.

Visa on Arrival

Citizens of 40+ countries can get an e-visa or visa on arrival. Apply online at evisa.gov.et at least 3 days before travel. Tourist visa costs $52 (30 days) or $72 (90 days).

SIM Cards & WiFi

Ethio Telecom kiosks sell tourist SIM cards in the arrivals hall. Data packages start at ~$5 for 5GB. Free WiFi is available but slow — a SIM card is recommended.

Getting to the City

The airport is 6km from the city center. Options: metered taxi (~300-500 ETB / $5-9), Ride app (250-400 ETB), hotel shuttle (usually free), or the light rail (connected via Ayat station).

Transit Tips

Addis Ababa is a major African transit hub. Ethiopian Airlines offers free hotel stays for connections over 8 hours. Transit passengers don't need a visa if staying in the airport.
